ATTORNEY SEAN MCQUAID APPOINTED TO THE CITY OF ST. PETERSBURG NUISANCE ABATEMENT BOARD.
Attorney Sean K. McQuaid has been appointed by Mayor Foster to serve as a member the City of St. Petersburg Nuisance Abatement Board. The City Council approved the appointment in October 2011.

Anthony S. Battaglia and Stephen J. Wein were selected for inclusion in the Best Lawyers in America 2012 edition. ATTORNEY AMANDA M. ADAMS JOINS THE FIRM’S LITIGATION TEAM
The firm is pleased to announce that Attorney Amanda M. Adams has joined the firm's Litigation Department as an Associate Attorney. Amada received her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Stetson University College of Law in December 2010. She was on the Moot Court Board for three semesters and won or placed in numerous national and international competitions. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degrees from Florida State University in Political Science and International Affairs. She continues to support and volunteer time to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
ATTORNEY TIMOTHY WEBER NAMED RISING STAR SUPER LAWYER
Attorney Timothy W. Weber has officially been designated a "Florida Super Lawyer Rising Star”. Less than 5% of the Florida Lawyers are selected to be a "Florida Super Lawyer". The Rising Star category recognizes young lawyers who have been identified by their peers as having distinguished themselves early in their careers by performing at the level of a "Super Lawyer". Attorney Weber is also a Florida Bar Board Certified Appellate Lawyer.
FIRM’S LAW OFFICE WILL GET A NEW LOOK
During the next three months, the firm will be renovating our St. Petersburg Law Office. A new sign has been installed on the front of the building. Work will begin shortly on the interior of the office. The restrooms, reception area, facility management room and the coffee room will be completely refurbished. The common areas of the firm and all offices will receive new carpet and in many instances new wall paper. We expect to complete the renovations by the end of September.

ATTORNEY STEPHEN WEIN RECEIVES EDUCATOR OF EXCELLENCE AWARD.
Attorney Stephen Wein is the winner of the Jewish Federation's Thirteenth Annual Yitzhak Rabin Memorial Award for Educator of Excellence. The Yitzhak Rabin Memorial Award's Committee was extremely impressed with Mr. Wein's contributions to the Jewish Community. The award will be presented by the Jewish Federation of Pinellas & Pasco Counties on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at the Temple B'nai Israel.
ANTHONY BATTAGLIA APPOINTED TO TBRI BOARD
Anthony S. Battaglia, the firm's Founding Partner, has been appointed to the Board of the Tampa Bay Research Institute, Inc., St. Petersburg. TBRI's mission is to study, cure and prevent cancer and chronic debilitating diseases and provide community heath education.
BRIAN BATTAGLIA RECEIVES AN "AV" RATING FROM MARTINDALE-HUBBELL
Attorney Brian Battaglia, a Shareholder with the firm, has received an "AV" Preeminent Rating from Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review in the Commercial Law and Civil Litigation areas of law. Brian scored 4.9 on a scale of 5.0. An "AV" rating is the highest rating an attorney can receive from Martindale-Hubbell. Martindale-Hubbell, in the legal field, is considered the most prestigious peer rating system.
BRIAN P. BATTAGLIA TO SERVE AS GENERAL COUNSEL FOR THE PINELLAS REPUBLICAN EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE.
Brian P. Battaglia, a Shareholder of the firm, has been reappointed as General Counsel and Parliamentarian for the Pinellas County Republican Executive Committee. This will be Brian's second year as a member of the Pinellas County Republican Executive Committee.
BATTAGLIA, ROSS, DICUS & WEIN SPONSORS BLANTON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.
The Mayor of St Petersburg has instituted a program where local businesses form a sponsorship with the local public schools in the city. For the past three years, Battaglia, Ross, Dicus & Wein has established a business relationship with Blanton Elementary School. The firm provides mentors for selected children, provides financial support for special events and provides administrative and logistical support during the year. One special event takes place during Halloween. The firm provides over 200 pumpkins and the school has a class pumpkin carving contest. We also support programs that recognize the teachers for their outstanding contributions to the students and Blanton Elementary.
SHAREHOLDER BRIAN BATTAGLIA HAS BEEN APPOINTED TO THE PINELLAS COUNTY BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS.
On December 14, 2010, Attorney Brian Battaglia was appointed to District 6 of the Pinellas County Board of Adjustments. This is a two year appointment.
BRIAN P. BATTAGLIA SELECTED TO SERVE ON FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY CRIMINOLOGY AND JUSTICE ADVISORY BOARD.
The law firm of Battaglia, Ross, Dicus & Wein, P.A. is honored to announce that Shareholder, Brian P. Battaglia has been selected to serve on the Advisory Board for The Florida State University's School of Criminology and Criminal Justice. Brian Battaglia is a 1982 graduate of the FSU School of Criminology.
GOVERNOR CRIST APPOINTS BRDW SHAREHOLDER TO JUDICIAL NOMINATING COMMISSION.
Governor Charlie Crist has appointed Attorney Sean K. McQuaid, a Shareholder with BRDW, as a member of the Judicial Nominating Commission for the 6th Judicial Circuit. The term of his appointment will begin August 20, 2010 and end on July 1, 2014.
BRDW ASSOCIATE RECEIVES "THE ROCK" AWARD.
Brent A. Gordon, Esq., an Associate in our Litigation Department, has received "The Rock" award for 2010. This award is presented each year by the Barney Masterson Inn of Courts. The recipient must be a young lawyer who has provided exceptional service to the community and is selected by a vote of the full membership of the Barney Masterson Inn of Court. The award is named in honor of Judge Thomas E. Penick, Jr., who was one of the four founders of the Barney Masterson Inn of Court and who believed strongly in a lawyer's duty to provide service to the community.

Anthony S. Battaglia and Stephen J. Wein has again been selected by Woodward and White to be listed in their 2010 publication, Best Lawyers in America. This is Anthony Battaglia's fifteenth consecutive year to be listed in this prestigious publication. Stephen Wein was selected again this year (3rd year) in the category of Commercial Litigation Attorneys.

TEN MILLION DOLLAR JURY VERDICT.
On August 28, 2009 a Pinellas County jury returned a verdict of $10,149,137.00 in favor of a cardiologist and former Chief of Medicine of the VA Hospital in Bay Pines, Florida. The verdict was the result of a defamation lawsuit filed against the Times Publishing Company, parent company of the St. Petersburg Times, arising out of three articles published in the St. Petersburg Times in December of 2003. The case, Kennedy v. Times Publishing Company, 05-8034-CI-11, was filed in Pinellas County in December of 2005. The trial took place in August of 2009 over the course of five days. The Plaintiff was represented by Attorney Timothy W. Weber of the Battaglia, Ross, Dicus & Wein law firm.
ANTHONY BATTAGLIA TO RECEIVE THE 2009 "HEROES AMONG US AWARD."
Since 2005, the St. Petersburg Bar Foundation has recognized attorneys who have distinguished legal careers and have given of their time and talents to the Tampa Bay Community and beyond. The recipients of the 2009 "Heroes Among Us Award" are honored at a black-tie dinner which showcases their contributions. Attorney Anthony S. Battaglia, Founding Shareholder and managing partner of Battaglia, Ross, Dicus & Wein law firm, is one of the two attorneys who will receive the "2009 Heroes Among US Award". The award will be presented during a special celebration to be held at Stetson Law School.

Stetson University School of Law and the Masterson Inns of Court have recognized Attorney Aubrey O. Dicus for his professionalism, civility, ethics, and legal excellence as a criminal attorney and awarded him with the Barney Masterson Award.
BATTAGLIA, ROSS, DICUS & WEIN, P.A. CELEBRATES 50 YEARS OF SERVICE.
In June 1959, Anthony Battaglia moved to St. Petersburg, Florida from Orlando and joined the law firm of Parker and Parker. During the next two years, the Parkers changed the name of the firm to Battaglia, Parker and Parker. This was the beginning of the Battaglia, Ross, Dicus & Wein law firm. Back then the firm was extremely active in the real estate development of the county and especially, in the development of the barrier beaches. Today the firm is of mid-size with 15 attorneys practicing in multiple areas of law not only in the Tampa Bay Area but throughout the State of Florida.

Howard Ross has been recognized by the Florida Bar as a Board Certified Civil Trial Lawyer and has held this distinguished rating for the past 25 consecutive years.

ATTORNEY STEPHEN WEIN IS RE-ELECTED TO A SECOND YEAR AS CHAIRMAN OF MENORAH MANOR, INC. NURSING HOME.
Stephen J. Wein was re-elected to a second year as Chairman of Menorah Manor, Inc a non-profit corporation that operates a 180 bed skilled nursing home and adult living residence. Steve has served Menorah Manor as an officer and trustee for over ten years.
